Hello, my name is Makea, I’m the owner and head trainer for Prevail K9 Training! Since a young age, I’ve always enjoyed working with dogs, and after interning under a wonderful trainer for two years I wanted to expand my knowledge even more. I attended Highland Canine’s 6 month Master Dog Trainer Course and successfully graduated from the program.
Now I’m eager to grow further and help owners who are seeking guidance using a balanced approach to come up with a strategy custom to you and your unique dog! I’m also extremely passionate when it comes to working with our specialized working dogs such as but not limited to service dogs, police k9s, and detection dogs. I hope to grow the industry standards and provide education to all different types of working dog handlers and the general public about how dogs can help to change and save lives.
To date I have helped to train service dogs, police dogs, SAR dogs, and detection K9's. All of my experiences have helped me to become a better trainer and understand how to better help dogs. I also continue to study because learning never truly stops!

My Training And Experience
I've worked with a wide variety of dogs and different breeds, each with their own unique quirks and characters and I truly believe that every dog is capable of learning and growth regardless of age or background.
I strive to educate owners about their dogs and help them when problems arise. Just like us, every dog is different and no situation is the same. I will eagerly be there to discuss and walk owners through how to solve problems. Anything from behavioral issues to having better obedience and manners, I will be there to work through the problem with both you and your dog and come up with a solution to fix it in regard to your needs and situation.
While I primarily use positive reinforcement for much of my training, I also use training tools such as prong collars and E-collars when needed. However, unlike many I’m a firm believer that dogs need to have a strong foundation in basic obedience and understanding what we’re asking, and for us as owners to have a clear idea of what we want to reinforce with our dogs behaviors and how to effectively communicate what we want to our dogs. Only then once a dog confidently understands what we’re asking can we then add in things such as prongs and E-collars if needed.

Hi, I’m Denise, I’m a military spouse originally from California. The Navy moved us to Washington in May of 2022. My husband and I have two dogs, a dutch shepherd mix named Kujo and a husky named Meeko. We love taking our dogs on hikes and little adventures whenever we can! Growing up I’ve always had a passion for working with dogs and being able to train them has been a big dream of mine.
Working dogs are my absolute favorite! I love watching them accomplish their given tasks whether it’s in protection, detection, service work, etc. One day I would love to be some sort of working dog handler.

My goal as a trainer is to educate people on how to have structured happy lives with their dogs and in return watching them thrive with an amazing bond between them!
